Where the hell would you put a Dr. Scientist Bitquest?

Really want one of these, but I have no idea where to place it. Obviously, I'll figure it out when I get it but I was wondering if owners could chime in. Some parts seem like a front-of-the-amp deal, while other stuff looks like FX loop business..

I would imagine very early on in the chain.

FX loop placement would mean that you need to place it post the amplifier's preamp gain. Its modulation effects would be ok there, but its rather massive fuzzy distortion would sound better on a completely clean amp and before other effects. The combination of its distortion and modulations etc. will probably sound better again on a completely clean amp, but obviously it's your own ears that will determine what's best and we can't really do that for you.

I would personally see it as a multieffect, and if using a pedalboard in front of a clean amp, I would place it first after the guitar and deactivate every other pedalboard effect, except maybe a delay or reverb if needed.

Yeah, that's where I would put it. It's got plenty of tone-altering functions to warrant a front-of-amp placement.

I liked mine best after dirt pedals, but before everything else.
It's really a pedal that could go anywhere depending on what your favourite modes end up being.

Use mine mostly for delay, reverb, and flange sometimes, and because I like all of those after dirt, my BQ goes after dirt, before the amp.

I also use some of the other modes on occasion (pitch shift/ring mod/bitcrush), which aren't ideal in that spot, but still work reasonably well.

Just bought one, and I have the same question. So many of these effects want to be in different places!

Reverb & Delay wants to be dead last. Pitchshifter wants to be before dirt, after a comp. Filters are going to be the most useful after Dirt (for me)
Flange could be either side of dirt, as could the Crusher. Ring Mod I have no idea, not an effect I find useful so far...

So what the consensus in Bitquest land boys and girls?
Where do you place yours? And why?

Ask yourself, would you be better off with two?

Time for a looper that allows you to change a pedal's position.

    That's an expensive solution :)

Ha ha, um, no. Maybe yes? But no, I have a small Zoom-MS pedal for that.

I'm thinking after Dirt and Modulation, before delay. Anyone else have other idea's?

Oh hey, my old thread. I've been putting this thing all over the place. Lately, I put it in the very front. I've been using it mainly for dirty Notch, infinite reverb (drone, etc.), and ring-mod w/ a lot of reverb.

First eh? Don't you find the reverb to be problematic that early in the chain?

I place mine after fuzz, before everything else.

Mine is still in a similar spot to where I had it back in February: after dirt, before delay and reverb. I moved it before the Cosmichorus to expose the BitQuest's expression jack on the right hand side (which is very fun to use on occasion!)

F*%K. Your Dr. Scientist board is very pleasing on the eye!

I would if I used it as a regular reverb. I occasionally like running the reverb into dirt for that wall-of-sound thing.
