Which Allums CS-3 mod?

There is the Opto plus and the Ultra plus mods Allums does for CS-3. From the description I didn't get is the Ultra plus mod an improved Opto plus design or is it something else. I think I don't like optical compressors. Well I didn't like Diamond comp too much, but this stock Boss CS-3 sounds really nice to me. I guess with Allums mod I will get rid of the noise and gain some warmth, but I don't know which one to choose.. Thanks for the input!

I have the opto pls mod. Very nice improvement in noise and overall tone transparency but had to take out the burr brown opamp as it seemed to clip with one of my strats like it couldn't handle the transient attack. I emailed monte but he hadn't heard of it before. I just added a second rc4558. I think you'd be happy with either mod.

I like the Allums mods in general. Fun to do, and sound great. For comps though I prefer the Dyna-ish squishy sound, and didn't really like the Opto mod on this pedal. It's a less noticable effect, like the Diamond. I backed it out, as I found I preferred my CS-3 stock.

Thanks! So what would be the mod for CS-3 to sound as it is (non-opto) but quieter and maybe smoother?

When you get the instructions for the Monte allums mods it will detail exactly how each individual component affects the sound. You could choose to add just the aspects you are interested in.

Correction to my earlier post I actually bought two NE5532s which are used in the ultra mod. They were £0.99 for both.
