Hey guys, I just scored a Hotcat 30R and now I need to find a nice 2x12 cab to go with it. I was thinking about getting a matching Badcat cab, but I wondered if anyone else had tried different cabs and found better results.

So, is it better to go with a matching Badcat cab or with a different company all together?

Also, I like the closed cab better than the open cab, but what does a ported cab sound like?

    Thanks guys!!:RoCkIn

BadCat and Matchless make fine cabs.
THD's 2x12 is also highly praised - big fan here.

gotta get the matching Bad Cat cab

it is tuned to rock with those speakers. Really balanced lows and highs from that cab. Highly recommended!

Hmm....yeah I was thinking either the THD or Badcat. Has anybody ever heard the difference between the two? Both have gotten such good reviews.

hw2nw, what style is your cab? Is it open, closed, ported, etc??

My Hot Cat sounds good with my THD and Budda. It even sounds good with my Avatar (I believe with G12H's). I would get a Bad Cat for the looks alone. I picked up the head from Ebay and then afterward the cab from the same guy. Sounds great and you can help but drool every time you look at them together. I have the non-reverb

    Enjoy the amp!

it's the standard open-back 2x12. Give some nice "dimension" to the amp.

For future reference to other Badcat cab buyers.....they only make OPEN cab designs.

I'm sure they could custom make anything you wanted, but they prefer the open cab since they sound very big with lots of atmosphere. I just called the company and found this out!

I have a Black Cat 2x12 combo that I just started running along with a 2x12 extension cab loaded with an Eminence Man O War and Governor. The cab is a simple full back Fender 62 blonde copy. The Bad Cat speakers are wonderful, however, I like a very nice warm, full low end and the Man O War and Governor give me that. As a combo the amp is still amazing though. The extra cab just rounds things out a bit.

I've also tried the cab loaded with 2x12 Celestian Greenbacks, however, I really like the way it is now as opposed to how it was with the Greenbacks.

My suggestion would be to try a few different speakers and see what you like. No matter what cab you get, you can always play around with what speakers you have in it.

Whew...that is a beautiful setup there.

Well, I've just put in my order for a 2x12 Badcat. By the way...what are tone tubby speakers?

they are a company that makes speakers with hemp material for cones instead of the paper that most manufacturers use. i have a ceramic right now installed in a randall iso cab that i play the hot cat through and its amazing. i have a alnico version waiting to go into the bad cat cab in the picture.
