In the 60's, which case style did Fender Strats come with?

Brown tolex, Black tolex, Tweed? The rectangle shape?

Depends on the year. All were rectangular, after the 50's tweed, brown tolex was used first until about 63, then blonde (white) tolex, followed by black in 64. The Fender logos were used on the exteriors sometimes, not always. Interior colors varied. Check this out...

    yeah - what he said

when most people think about a 60s strat case - black tolex with orange interior comes to mind - at least for me.

Probably because they were around longer then creme or brown and were produced during an era that so many guitars were sold

    Thanks guys!

I'm getting a Rocketfire Strat, and was thinking about grabbing something other than the tweed case that comes with it. He was shooting for early to mid 60's look. Greeen guard etc. Just trying to think what might be appropriate, but even more important, what might be cool! LOL!

Brown or blonde reissue cases, early to mid 60's style, are always on ebay, brand new, around $150,
    used, about 100 bucks.

Hope that this is not off-topic, but has anyone ever seen a Fender case, black exterior and interior, no logo, from about '64? It is possible that the guitar in question was an export.

I don't have pictures of the case yet.

    Thanks! I'll start searching.

What guitar are we talking about here? You have a guitar that needs a case?

Blonde sounds like it may be way cool! It'll match my amps too! Bonus. I have tweed for my other strat already, so I thought why not have something different for this one.

    Hey BobbyRay,

I actually took some Bullseye Amber shellac, deluded it, and brushed it on the case. Then I used Deft nitro lacquer to seal it.... It's aging naturally really well.... Looks killer... Its the tweed case Nick supplied. I also did the same thing to my Fender Blues Deluxe RI...as well as a students Blues Jr.
