Which delay?

I've been looking at tons of delay pedals, mainly to cover things like Hendrix, pink Floyd, etc., and original tunes as well but I don't want to be limited to just that. Something inspiring possibly..? Several I've looked at are the Strymon El Cap and Brigadier, the TC Electronic Flashback and Alter Ego, and Skreddy echo, the normal and the one based off the echoplex. Any opinions on these or maybe something different? Thanks

Pink Floyd used tape tape echos... i've never really thought of delay with Hendrix stuff...

if cash is no issue, i'd say El Cap. Another option for a simple yet versatile delay is the Visual Sound Tap Delay (small one, not the Dual Tap Delay), or even a Line 6 Echo Park (seriously underrated pedal).

Anything from TC Electronics that has the toneprint option would give you the ability to be creative and find new sounds... really anything you listed would be great, just go by what sounds best to you (and maybe by what won't hurt your bank account)

...i'm picking up a catalinbread echorec later today

i'll try and remember to post a mini-review on this thread

i have the flashback x4 - i like the versatility, presets, tap tempo and, especially, the toneprint technology - great stage pedal

The El Cap might be the most inspiring delay that I have ever had. I switched to a Timeline for live usage but the El Cap is a dream pedal for creation...

So basically you guys are saying El Cap will get it all done, it's just a matter of what I want spend? I don't think I've yet to hear something bad about the Cap!!

+1 for el cap or skreddy echo. both are fantastic. if you need presets and crap get the el cap. the skreddy is one of the best simple delays out there tho

You won't hear anything bad. It ended my search for the perfect all around tape echo pedal. The ElCap is like playing a box with a portal to outer space. Plug in, get lost.

I've got the timeline and big sky... Pretty incredible combo, still lusting for ElCap and Möbius. Maybe EHX DMM too. Gahhhhh my GAS is kicking in lol

I've used most of what is out there. Currently have a Wampler Faux Tape Echo and Boss DD20.

Put me in the camp who thought the El Capistan was just ok. I like the Wampler better than the El Capistan. It's not that the Strymon sounded bad, but I wasn't using any of the features really. I also felt it sat on top of my signal, whereas the Wampler seems to fit better going through my amps with no loops.

The Boss DD20 I like a lot. I thought about moving it to try a Timeline, but I do like it and don't know if it's worth the extra money.

I miss my Memory Man very much and have been tempted to replace the Wampler with that.

Otherwise, I have used most of everything listed in this thread and don't think you can go wrong with any of them, it just depends on your budget.

Ok, so if I stick "ease of use" in there, would you guys definitely go for the Skreddy? They all seems damn good but the Skreddy seems a world easier to use oppose to El Cap and a few others...

I play PF songs a lot. And I am planning to buy a delay too.

From my researches, I think the "ultimate" and "one and done" delay is Timeline and Empress Superdelay. I cannot design between them......

I think to play PF, you would want the most versatile delay ever available, El Cap may not serve the versatility very well..
