I have a DL-4, but I've been thinking of switching it up. I was thing of getting an echo park for just Edge kind of dotted eights kind of things, but I want a nicer one for big, complex and ambient kind of stuff.

The DL-4 is very versatile, sounds great, works conveniently and is cheap.

If you can afford the timefactor, get it. Although I just sold mine off, the TF is so so much better than the DL4. I A/B'd both, and it's pretty much night and day.

Thats what I'm hearing, everything has its draw backs. SMMH has volume drops, TF is TOO digital and people seem to be unloading the nova like hot cakes, dont know why though

I use one of these to give me some ambient type sounds, and it does the job quite well i think.. If you tweak the EQ on the repeats you can make it sound more digital if you need that as well, but it really accells at making an ambient sound. It does do a little of the tone suck, and the preamp is something to get used to on it, but i love the pedal.

I tried out the DL4 and didnt like it at all, what is it about it that makes it so popular?

Timefactor has the most flexibility and creative possibility. You can spend days twisting the knobs on it and you still won't hear everything it has to offer. Pretty good sounding, too.

Nova for more typical delays. The modulation is pretty subtle, but if you just want plain old delay, it's very good.

You could also try the Empress Super Delay. Definitely the most expensive, but it's been getting rave reviews.

From the criteria you've listed, I'd get the TF.

I've used DL-4's, have owned the Nova and DD-20, and am a happy TF owner - it's one of those pedals that you forget how much it cost after you plug it in.

The Stereo Memory man W/Hazaria has volume drops??? Well mine does not.

    Tap Tempo

Sound on Sound recording from any setting any mode any time you can even sound on sound with two different types of delay!

You can dial in so many sounds its mind boggling. Edge stuff, Floyd, Slap Sun Studio Stuff, Ambient movie Scape stuff, I am just so impressed with mine.

I think its either 8 or 9 presets to.

If I had the money I would have tried the T-rex replica but oh well!

Oh the choices given, the TimeFactor.
    But,
There are others that would be great choices as well.
To name a couple, the DD-20 and Super Delay.
