Which do you think is brighter? A '59 or a Seth Lover?

I'm looking to put a new pickup on a LP model guitar because the stock Schaller in the neck position is too dull and muddy, even after all of the usual adjustments to improve it..

I've got my choices narrowed down to the '59 or the Seth Lover and from listening to the sound clips there isn't much between them, and unfortunately the guitars I actually tried them on were sufficiently different as to make direct comparison difficult. From the sound clips, I preferred one of them, and from the test-drive I preferred the other :( Sigh..

My experiences from trusting my ear and not paying attention to the model was, that I tended to like brighter sounding PU's over darker ones. So I'm wondering what experiences and comments people with direct experience between the two might have. Installed on a LP, which would you think would be a little brighter in the neck position.

    Thanks,

Seth has Random specs - so grab the lower spec tagged Seth when ya can.. and then put a full power alnico 5 in it - ditch the stock Seth magnet - I think its a II .

    '59 has more clarity......A5 mag vs. A2.

59 in the neck and a Seth in the bridge works real well.

59 in the neck is hard to beat.

Also, the Seth is unpotted so if you're a high-gain type of guy, id go 59.

According to the tone chart on the SD website, the '59 is listed at (treble/middle/bass) 6/3/8 and the Seth at 6/4/8.

I may be mistaken on this, but isn't the Duncan Alnico II pretty much the same pickup as the Seth but potted?

I have owned both and would agree 100%.

The 59' was much brighter imo.

the 59 will be a brighter than the seth. I know this sounds funky since the pearly gates is an A2 mag, but i think its a touch brighter than the 59 aswell.

I've had both in the same guitar, Seth were much brighter, thinner. I've found this to be the case with all A2 pickups I've had. Kinda opposite of what people say it's supposed to be like. YMMV.
