OK, I have a lot of favorites. But some are standouts.

Mark Knopfler has a incredible collection of fine tones. This one in particular is something else.

Tough call between U2's The Edge and AC/DCs Angus Young.

Angus' is a little more natural and easier to obtain, but I love the ringing dream tones of All I Want Is You, If God Will Send His Angels, With or Without You, Streets.

U2 is more "synth" than "guitar tone"

I always thought the tone in the Beyond Beautiful solo was really cool:

    Yikes......too many good ones.
Probably my favorite ever is SRV's tone during the breakdown in Little Wing. If you listen to it with good headphones you can even hear a slight hum coming from the amp. But that tone....

Staying cheesy my second favorite ever is probably Eddie VanHalen during the bridge (breakdown) in Panama. It goes from screaming in your face to fat and round while keeping the edgy dirt.

Intro to You Shook Me All Night Long AC/DC. That riff has forced butts out of seats as if there were ejector mechanisms since the day it hit the radio. Sure, the riff is part of it. But the tone.....

Same with the intro to Your Love by The Outfield. Part riff. Part tone. But it sets the place on fire every time it's played.

    I could go on.....
