Looking for the most 5E3 friendly Treble booster - thinking about a Keeley Java? Also looking for a nice mild dirt/fatness - FatBoost 3? Other suggestions welcome. Thanks

Swart Atomic Boost-I played one through two different 5e3 clones (marsh amps), sounded great through both, even though the amps themselves had two very different speakers

how about a throbak overdrive boost? i fookin love that thing. NOT really what you're asking for. . . . but sumpin to consider. def. can get you treble booster qualities. .. . but is also so much more. . .

I have owned some of the best on the market. I would HIGHLY suggest the Creepy Fingers Sugarboost! It KILLS with a Tweed!

My favorites with my 5e3, after extensive searching are:

Barber LTD SR / Barber 1/2 Gainer
Bad Bob boost
Clark Gainster
Timmy

I personally didn't care for treble boosters with my 5e3, but some guys do.
You definitely want to stay with things that have a flatter eq and open sound, IMO. The 5e3 is a bit dark and mid heavy, so nothing with any mid hump works for me.

the java is pretty good with fender amps. mainly cos the tone knob can roll off the hiss and get a nice creamy old school boost. i love em. if you can, track down a cv7003 version. i dont know why but i found this transistor a little less aggressive than an oc44...not by much, but enough.

overdrive-wise the fulltone ocd is good for both a tweed amp & a treble booster. again, i preferred version 3 to the more common v4.
havent tried the earlier ones.

great list. exactly why i suggest throbak odb. first thought was timmy, but it doesn't clean up like an odb. . .which is WHY i like that amp. . . though i don't play one since i've gone for clean headroom.

I have two 5E3s, a Clark & a Victoria.

I love the Clark Gainster & the OCD V2 most so far.
They do very well with the RC & AC Boosters too.

Had a Rangemaster, Beano, that also though it did work well wasn't so fitting to my preference except at higher volume where the Rangemaster shines. Very good pedal suited for larger amps better I think.

There is something to the flatter EQ pedals that do best in the 5E3's.

Now seeking a Bad Bob and think that will be up there with the Gainster.

I use a Cornish TB-83 with my deluxe, sounds killer. Roll back the volume and and it cleans up nice and still has a rich articulate sound. My secret weapon, always on and always improves the tone regardless of what amp I use.

My '57 5F10 loves a Catalinbread Formula No. 5 running on 18V in front of it...I'm sure it would sound great in front of a 5E3 since it's designed after that sound anyways.

Yes, I have a Bad Bob for a long time now. I like what it does much more than the RC Booster.

The Clark Gainster and the Bad Bob are here to stay always along with a PTD Bone Machine which is out of this world in Fuzz but excellent for OD and many flavors of it as well.
