Alright, I've narrowed my search down to a just a few amps.

    1. Dr. Z Prescription Jr.
    2. Divided By 13 JRT 9/15
    3. Bad Cat Hot Cat NR 15
    4. Bad Cat Classic Cat

So, pristine cleans don't really matter. I do want big cleans, with just enough chime, not too much. For the edge-of-breakup to breakup I want very AC30, countryish type tone, but with a good rockabilly type sound as well. Think Brad Paisley or Brian Setzer. For OD I want something very nasty and dirty, not nice polite. Basically just a dirtier version of the light breakup to breakup sounds. High gain tones aren't that important, and out of those four, the Hot Cat is the only one I think could do high gain.

    Thanks is advance,
    TLR

The Hot Cat 30 is not too loud - at least the one I had wasn't - but I would be worried that the 15 would not be loud enough. The Hot Cat was a very good amp. I can at least recommend that.

RxES all the way, for the tones you describe. The RxJr might not get you those big clean cleans.

    JMHO of course. ;)

Also feel free to reccommend any other amps that would fit these criteria.

Mainly bedroom, but loud enough for a small club would be nice.

Oh, well then the Rx JR would fit the bill I think! I'd also check out the Maz Jr. and Budda SD18.

The Hot Cat is a great choice - but, may have more gain than you really need. But, just keep the gain knob down and you're there. Heck, you can get all those tones from the clean channel alone - although it doesn't have a master volume on that channel - so the broken tones/overdriven tones will be pretty darn loud!

From your description, I'd actually recommend checking out a Matchless C-30 series or Bad Cat Black Cat 30 (Bad Cat's Matchless C-30 series basically). It will do what you need.

TOP HAT King or club Royale (depending on your need for vol.)- fits your description nicely and is a monster amp.
also look into a Vanderbuilt 33 or a supreme 16.

I was going to second the Matchless DC30 or HC30 option. Get's huge cleans (30 watts) and great country grit. . .I've got one, and it's highly recommended. . .but, it's HEAVY. . .probably close to 85 pounds. Oh, it can get very rude if that's what you're looking for.

I've also got a HotCat 15, which is mentioned in your wish list. The clean channel is very nice, and really starts to push at about 9:00 o'clock with a humbucker. . .By straight up noon, it's on fire. . .and I'm talking about the clean channel. 3:00 o'clock seems like trainwreck or HRM (hot rodded marshell) type gain. . .lot's of power tube compression and saturation. . .really, more than I need, and really, really loud for a 1 X 12 amp.

The Gain channel on the HotCat 15 is over the top, and I never play with the gain above 9:00 o'clock. It's a 1 X 12, and compared to the Matchless DC30, it's a feather weight. . .but in truth, it's also heavy, just not as heavy as the Matchless.

Both are great amps and should reach the tones you're looking for.

Thanks for the great description. I would love to own a Matchless, but I have no way to get that much money. Some day, though, some day.

Alright, one last question before I really let this thread die. Would a Matchless Lightning be able to do what I described above?

At this point that'd be the Z, Bad Cat, or Matchless. I just don't know which one suits my needs the best.

My Point is....when you are this far in your process.....there is only one person who can choose. You have pointed out three great amps....now just pick the one you want ;) There is no book of answers in this regard.

They will all do what you need.....it's down to your personal taste/flavour.
