I can tell you right now to say away from the Fender Acoustasonic amps. They are some of the worst sounding acoustic amps I've ever heard. I don't know how or why people are buying these things. They are terrible!

I can't speak for the Bose Panaray but I have confidence and willing to bet is sounds better than the Fenders. My only experience with Bose is with their overpriced PA stick setup, which was decent.

Short list of some acoustic amps I approve of:

    • Marshall AS100D - one of my favorites to play solo on; has some killer verb on it; very crisp and natural sounding acoustic tones with plenty of cut
    • Fishman Loudbox - great sounding tone overall
    • Genz Benz Shenandoah - IMO, underrated acoustic amp line because of the rep of their other lines
    • Small PA - I wouldn't rule out investing in a small level PA; one of my favorite sounding acoustic rigs is my Mackie Power Mixer PA head running 500-watts @ 250-watts per side sent through a couple of JBL Sound Factor SF15 1x15 with a horn; Huge tone with plenty of channels for a small to med gig! No acoustic amp could keep up with this one value for dollar and performance.

The tone is essentially there but there's no power. Kind of like my feelings on the AC60 from Roland. Sweet acoustic tone but just weak and no headroom. The AS100D is a much better buy IMO and really not comparable to the AS50R. What really did it for my was the cutting acoustic tone and the reverbs.

Amps ability to stay clean before distortion.

Essentially being about to stay clean louder.
