I'm looking to retire my Vintage Rat, is the big box one, I downsized from a PT Pro to a PT 2, and it's too big for this board, I want to have that sound in a small footprint, which pedal would you recommend???

JHS pedal's "The All American Distortion" is a RAT clone in a smaller enclosure I think

I didn't see a price range in the OP's post, did you?

Besides, you've added the impatience markup to the actual price. $395, isn't it?

i don't think the size difference would be that big if you change. im not sure though. check out pedalboardplanner.com to see if the smaller enclosure is better. considering that side jacks add some space between pedals it will be similar to the rat's size.

I had a Chupa and still have a BP.
If he is looking for a "real" RAT tone, Black Plague is the eay to go IMO.
Chupa is great pedal, but it doesn't really sound like RAT.
And it has a standard tone control instead of filter.

+1 for another Rat. If you like the sound of your big box Rat, look for a vintage small box Rat. You'll never be quite as satisfied with another clone.

not really voiced the same, but the screwdriver is even more versatile than the already versatile rat

you looking for THAT rat tone, or did you like the rat for its ability to do a couple diff things?

edit: crud, nevermind, i re read your OP

id look for a mod'd rat 2 with the proper chip

    That's what I was thinking.

How about a Keeley Rat? That replaced my vintage Rat (after I gutted it and put the innards in a smaller box A/B switch).
