I just got a marshall silver jubilee 2x12 combo. I havent had much time, it's in the shop getting a tuneup and tube change.

Anyway, it's got a nice natural od and distortion, but could use a bit more gain for some leads. I could use some suggestions for a good boost. I play Hendrix, vh, scorps, ac/dc, sabbath, etc. Thanks.

Treble booster + Marshall = Awesome

I recommend the Analogman Beano Boost.

Boss OD1 is fantastic for this role!!!! I remember playing a large "battle of the bands" gig with a JCM800 stack for backline (as opposed to my usual AC30) - I used an OD1 and Vintage Rat and was very pleased with the result.

Funny with all the boutique pedals that the Boss SD-1 is still pretty popular.

have you used it with a Marshall and how much does it color the tone, or does it just add some gain?

I read from their website that they say several times "this will color your tone". In what way does it color it from your experience? Huge mid bump or something else? Does it add some nice gain too?

+2 on the Analogman Beano Boost!

I use it in combination with a cranked NMV Marshall. Adds quite some of gain and depending on the setting it can boost the treble, mid-highs or full frequency. Don't expect a flat EQ in the latter though. It colors your sound considerably!

With a Les Paul, I'm not surprised why they've called it the Beano Boost, cause the sounds I get are very much reminiscent of the 'Beano' album to me.

I have never gotten along with my BYOC tribooster in treble boost mode, I will have to give that a try.

As to the original question for my Marshall 2553 silver jubilee I use a Maxon OD-808. I have also tried a Timmy and liked that, but that is on my other pedalboard.

Klon, and/or treble boost. If you want to go the Marshall OD pedal route, I can't recommend anything there but the zendrive sounded too me as good as any of them.

The Treble Booster was pretty much made for doing this.

Treble Boost would be great (I use a D*A*M Red Rooster), or a Timmy is also a good choice, better yet, get both, this is TGP after all.
