    El Cap or Brigader???

I have a DD20 that I use and love it, but I want another delay to use with it. I want to try the Strymon stuff out, so my question is do I want the El Cap or the Brigader? I really dont know a great deal about either one as far as difference in dealy time and functions. (Im ready to drink the strymon kool-aid so im not really interested in other options as of now).

    Thanks

Lotsa good demos out there that show the differences. I had a DD20 and was really happy w/ it. I used the Tape setting mostly and then decided I wanted more of that so I got an RE20, but it still wasn't right. Long story short, for me, I ended up w/ the El Cap. Love it! Check out those demos.

the El Cap is the tap mode delay, the brig is the dBucket side. so which would you prefer?

or, if you have the space, get the timeline...... or both the el cap and brig! haha

So the Timeline is the Brig and the El Cap in one?
(300$ is the limit so no TL yet)

yes and no, the el cap does the multi head thing, while the timeline only does the single head. other than that, yes, it covers them i think.

I'd say el cap just cuz I really don't like the dBucket algorithm.
But I do think the analog mode on the DD20 is very decent.

Can you tell me more about not liking the algorithm?

What do you use the DD-20 for? Tape sounds? Modulated delay?

I've owned both of the Strymons, and while they are both good, I really did like the El Capistan more. Personally, I'd keep the DD-20 for clean, pristine delay sounds, and use the El Cap for soupy tape sounds. I liked the Brigadier, but I feel like you could cop similar tones with the Boss. If you want the least amount of overlap, hit up the El Cap.

Along with the time limitation of the dBucket mode... The max MS is 800 and I'm pretty sure the brigadier has longer delay times.

I'm not gonna be good at explaining this bit I'll give it a shot. Out of the few analog delays I've owned I just felt like the dBucket algorithm was not a convincing analog delay simulation. I felt like it was too soft and it's decay or rather the way the repeats lost fidelity was not good.
It just was really not my think. I also felt it was too soft sounding.

This is what I was thinking, I use DD20 for shorter delay/mod. But thats why i was wanting a El Cap, so I can use DD20 for longer deley.

I own an El Cap. It paired very nicely with my Boss delays, the DD3/5/6/7's I've owned. I have not owned the Brig, but I would if I had a chance to. I think the El Cap is something special and different, not easy to find. When I was picking between the two to order from Strymon, I picked the El Cap.

or sell the dd20 and get a timeline if you aren't going with the dual delay route.
