Who all "wins" a grammy when an album "wins" a grammy?

    Simple but confusing question:

Artist "A" cuts an album of original and cover tunes. The album wins a grammy. Does artist "B" who wrote one of the cover tunes 30+ years ago also "win" or get credit for being a grammy winner even though he or she really had nothing to do with the album?

Just wondering if that would go on the resume list for artist "B".

    Interesting question.

How about all the other contributors: engineer, producer, engineers assistant, session players, bright-eyed intern, key grip, guitar tech, drum machine or key programmer, etc?

    Anyone know?

It's usually only the artist who receives the award. For "Song of the Year" - the songwriter wins which isn't necessarily the artist who recorded the song. The producer and engineer will receive an award along with the artist for the "Record of the Year" category. The producer and engineer will just receive nice certificates if an artist they have worked with wins in another category.

    From the GRAMMY website:

"The Record Of The Year category recognizes the artist’s performance as well as the overall contributions of the producer(s), recording engineer(s) and/or mixer(s) if other than the artist. The Song Of The Year category recognizes the songwriter(s)."
