Was thinking about this the other day as I was listening to Randy Rhoads. As much as I LOVE Randy and think he's one of the best ever, he doesn't directly influence my particular style of playing. Just curious what you all in TGP land think.

    Here's my list.

Edward Van Halen - Not anywhere close to him, but I do try to play like him sometimes.

Slash - He made me want to play the guitar.

James Hetfield - Got my palm muted rhythm technique from him. Still play a lot of rhythm guitar like that even though I'm not doing too much heavy metal anymore.

Noel Gallagher - His combination of his voice, guitar playing and song writing have really inspired me.

Angus Young - Get a lot of my stage presence from him.

I have tons of influences but for me the top 5 would have to be

Angus Young - Let There be Rock era got me hooked.
Joe Perry - during the Toys in the Attic/Rocks period.
Jimi Hendrix - I loved the Hendrix in the West record.
Pete Townsend - I wore the grooves out of the Magic Bus record.
Carlos Santana - Mom/Dad knew someone in his band when they first started and they used to let me sit behind the drums and play around with them.

Can't play like 'em but they sure launched me on a journey:

Lonnie Johnson -the best there ever was and ever will be

Son House - rough edged & pure emotion

Howlin' Wolf's reduce the stage to a pile of ashes trio of guitar players - Willie Johnson, Pat Hare & Hubert Sumlin
