and how much lighter are they? thanks
Not sure about the weight savings, but J Design cabinets (the guy that builds the cabinets for Fargen Amps) has a line of pine cabinets.
ah thanks, I was under the impression they would be lighter... I'll check em out
I had a spectacular BoB Burt pine cab. definitely a weight savings.

Robert builds an EXCELLENT cab of nice light southern pine. Beautiful to look at and very lively sound. My 1X12 weighs about 28 pounds.
Try www.mathercab.com Peter made me a custom 1X15 to fit my Deluxe Reverb chassis.
Rick Johnson built me a great 2x10 pine cab for my tremolux. A lot of pro pedal steel players use his cabs.
Oh I didn't mean they weren't lighter, I just wasn't sure how much you weight you would save, like a specific number.
divided by 13 makes the best!
I had RL Mott build me a head and speaker cabinet out of pine, it's not heavy, looks great and sounds even better
builds and restores Fender cabs in pine, etc. in SoCal:
