Thankfully, there are many other less expensive choices ...

Mostly everyone on this site can afford to play guitar.

I’ve never driven past the Lamborghini dealership and wondered how anyone can afford to drive anymore.

I could only wish for the quality and options available today at such relatively low price points when I started playing guitar.

Or is this just another "this guitar is overpriced" thread?

You could buy a Bacon tenor banjo for $900 in 1924, which translates to about $13.5K today. Now there are hardly any tenor banjo players left. Coincidence? Well, yeah.

Actually there are much more affordable good quality instruments out there available today than there was when I was a teenager in the late 70’s. My first Gibson Les Paul and Marshall 1/2 stack cost more that my first two cars combined.

Guitar players today have lots of options for whatever they want to spend/invest in their passion.

Gibson has other, lower cost options. You can get a very affordable Firebird Tribute for $1,019.00, a Firebird for $1,999.00 or a Firebird Custom for $4,699.00.

I consider the Firebird as more of an economy class SUV not a Centenario.
