So, I've been reading up on the history of the Fender Stratocaster...I have a lot of books from the 80's that I dug out of storage, and I'm seeing a lot of '57 RI guitars seeing as how it's the 50th anniversary of the '57 Strat...which is considered the first "modern" strat with all the features we are familiar with today.

So I'm thinking to myself...I'd really like to build something like a '57 alder bodied Strat, but piece by piece with the parts that suit me and my style of playing (whatever that happens to be this year :YinYang ).

So I'm wondering, who can make me as authentic of a '57 Strat Alder body as possible? Does anyone make vintage style bodies using "old wood"? It would have to be a Nitro finish of course...though since it would be my own custom-custom, I'd pick some unusual color.

So who does something like this?

Aren't you simply just describing the thought process leading up to a partsocaster :S?

    Um...yeah, and what's your point?

Every good guitar needs to start with a fine body. And while I have a killer neck, and can have another killer neck made (I'm thinking AAAAA birds eye), I don't think I've ever had a really, really resonate and musical body.

Kenny, Warmoth doesn't do Nitro, and I"m not sure their bodies are 57 speck with the extra deep body cut and such.

Warmoth don't do Nitro, but Try Mark jenny...Google him, an awesome Nitro
    Painter.
I can't keep Nitro, the toxic stuff burns my lungs/asthma.
It also takes years to go away, fumes wise.
    Sure it ages/relics best.
and hey, Nitro is very expensive..good luck.
TRY USACG, then they make great bodies...

USACG makes great bodies and necks, and as Kenny said, Mark Jenny does nitro as well as anyone. another one is Gregg Rogers, he uses good wood with accurate specs and does nitro well also, but dont get anything seriously reliced by him. i have an oly white strat body from him thats great.

Tommy at USACG has copied his own 54 strat for their bodies so you'll get a great deep vintage body cut. My USACG strat feels great. great acoustic tone too.
