Weber makes a 5E7 kit as well. The tweed Bandmasters are the only one's I've seen kits for.

Interested in black... is that a 5E7?

The only ones I have played through and know are black. Whats the tonal difference between black, tweed and blonde?

Well, you've opened a can of worms now, haven't you.

In a word, the difference is headroom. A tweed Fender will break-up much sooner than a blackface. Many other things changed as well; location of the tone stack, negative feedback loop, etc...

What kind of sound are you going for?

BF Bandmaster are all over the place used and sell for almost nothing compared to other BF Fenders...You coudl buy a BF Bandmaster for half or so what it would cost you to build one...just buy one is my advise.

    +1

I found a 65' Bandmaster at a garage sale for $40. Of course they go for more than that, but they are nowhere near the price of other BF Fenders.

I'm not sure why this is. I dumped about a $100 into tubes and recapping and it's a really great sounding Fender amp, perhaps a little cleaner than other dual 6L6 Fenders. It's a great platform for pedals.
