I have one of the Crybaby classic with the fasel and I loved it for about a week untill it started get scatchy sounding. It's brand new, I want to send it out to get it moded by a pro. Who is the Crybaby mode pro?

Send it back. The pot is faulty. A brand new wah shouldn't sound scratchy! As far as modders, there's Keeley, Pedalworx, Area 51 and wah-wah.co.uk. If you're not happy with the tone of the Crybaby, look into getting a boutique. You'll probably end up spending the same amount modding a new wah, if not more, after all is said and done.

Mine malfunctioned too. I had it for about two weeks or so and it started producing static in the forward position, and also started oscillating. I returned it, but would like to get another one. I bought a two year warranty that specified MF send another one if it failed, but since it was new they had me return it and I've heard nothing else from them.

There are a few guys that do mods, just Google for "wah mods".

There have been a few posts regarding this same topic in the last few months on a few forums. There is a wah shootout going on now at the diystompoxes forum. The outcome of these discussions seemed to be that maybe the inductor swapping isn't all it's cracked up to be. You may be able to get more out of your wah by swapping other components around. If you are so inclined read the link below regarding wah pedals.

Is it even possible to mod a Crybaby Classic? I've seen the guts of one and it doesn't have the traditional looking PCB board.

The only thing that looked like it could be modded was the pot.

I just did a very quick search and someone stated that the Classic model had surface mount components. I've never seen the board so I don't know for sure but if it is...

Yes, it may possible to mod but,

NO you don't want to.

It's a massive PITA to do anything with surface mount components and I doubt anyone will take that on - it would be easier to drop a new board in (and I'm not exagerating). I find it extremely ironic that it's called a Classic yet has surface mount components. That's kind of misleading.

If it isn't surface mount then mod away.
