Who does the best JTM 45 pedal?

I know a lot of the Marshall experience is due to 4x12's pushing massive amounts of air, but I want a pedal to run in front of my SFDR for a bit of that JTM 45 magic. Menatone, Wampler, original Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal...?

I have and like the JHS Charlie Brown. It has "that" sound. It growls when the drive is past 3:00. I actually have 2 and I don't need 2 so look for one in the emporium soon from me.

I'm interested in the big thick clean sounds more so than the distortion. The distortion is a secondary consideration.

I don´t like the zvex box of rock into a fender amp that much (although it´s awesome, when played into a Marshall amp). Best into a SFDR is a dirty little secret, imho. I know, that it´s designed after a super lead. But I can dial in pretty similar sounds to my JTM45.

I really like the Blackout Effectors Mantra (low-gain) in this capacity (into my BFDR-type amp), but it does seem like you should check out the DLS. Also, if money is no object, the Chandler Ge Driveis amazing, but, in addition to costing a lot, I found matching output to be really difficult. -E

I had a DLS once upon a time, but I didn't have the SFDR at that time. I seem to recall not liking the DLS, but don't recall why.

Zvex Box of Rock. It's like a distortron with a separate clean boost. But the Distortron has a few more options.

You're trying to get a JTM45 pedal to give you JTM cleans?
None of the OD boxes will do it IMO.

Might look into a bassman moddeling pedal, that would be closer. Fender 59 bassman/boss, or maybe the tech21 tweed modeling pedal?

yep, that's what I'm after, big mike. I briefly thought about the Boss /Fender '59 Bassman. I've owned the Tech21 Blonde. Is the "tweed modeling pedal" different from the Blonde?

The Chandler Ge Drive is ridiculously awesome! Yes it's expensive, but can be had used for around 2 bills, and if it's not your cup of tea, you can resell and not be out more than the cost of shipping, so it's worth the try. And about the volume issue, you can send the pedal to Chandler (forgot his first name) and he will install a volume knob for free. And when stacked with a klone(e), the tone is unreal!

With a vol. knob the value (i.e., utility) of that pedal goes up significantly. Wade (not actually named Chandler) is a really good guy. Why isn't the vol. knob stock?! (Rhetorical ...) -E

I didn't know what they called it, so I said tweed moddeling. LOL

Is the blonde the tweed one?
Not sure.

Tough to try to get JTM cleans form a pedal. Most cats trying to get the OD.

I'm just trying to avoid the strongest of urges to buy the amp.:D

It doesn't help any that a shop near by has a used one and a couple of used 1960A and 1960B cabinets.

Check out catalinbread 5f6, good thick Bassman cleans to low drive and nicely dynamic

( for the record I didn't say 'amp-like' :p )
