I used Okoume to build a 18' wooden skiff. It is fairly soft wood, but resilient and fairly light wait. It just does not strike me as a tone wood. But who knows?

    Kind Regards,

i'd never heard of the wood either until i came across another custom shop piece at guitar center in vegas recently. it was one with two filtertrons, a bigsby and an ebony fretboard. odd tonewood combo for a fender, but i absolutely fell in love with the thing. unfortunately no way i was gonna pay close to five large for a new fender. sales guy told me it's similar to a korina and i can believe that.

I know G&L uses it on some models.
