First let me say if you are offended by the notion that analog dirt sounds better than digital you might want to exit this discussion. :hide

Okay, I find that I like analog dirt better than what's in my RP1000. I go back and forth between whether I want the power of digital processing or the sonic benefits of separate pedals. I was on the verge of buying some delay and modulation effects but decided to try running the RP1000 in amp/cab bypass mode and using the stomp loop and a couple of dirt pedals. Honestly there's not much difference between running the dirt directly to my amp or in the stomp loop. So for now I'm running hybrid. There's still some tap dancing that way but I get the best of both worlds.

Analog dirt, analog compression, analog compressor... digital everything else.

truth be told, there's a comp/boost I use in the M13, and two dirt settings... and I like 'em... but they aren't the same as the BB with the EP engaged... but... on the OTHER hand... the BB analog dirt stacks real real nice with the M13 Tube Drive.

the front end of my main rig (amp, pre-amp dirts, etc) is all analog, but i use digital gear in the post-mic realm extensively. so far for me, that's the best sounding use for it. this is speaking solely in terms of a live rig.

I do. I use a GSP1101, but use Tech 21 Character pedals in it's preamp loop for my tones.

I'm using a couple of Hardwires in the stomp loop. A CM-2 and an SC-2. The CM-2 is very much like the RP's Screamer model but a little sweeter. I don't really care for anything Marshally in the RP so I'm using the SC-2 for that.

I'm using a Hughes & Kettner Roto Sphere in front of my AxeFx Ultra and looking to buy a Captain Coconut II to run there as well. 'Sounds good' is 'sounds good' and all is fair in love, war and the flow of electrons... no matter what they flow through.

I agree with the "whatever works for you" philosophy.

I did a similar thing on my last rig.....

The PodX3Live was the for Amp and Cab modelling
The Eventide Factors were in the FX Loop of the X3Live
All the other pedals were Pre the X3Live

There was another small board to the side of this one with a Boomerang Looper and an expression pedal for the Eventides.

in the end It got so big and I god fed up with all the tap dancing.

Sounded great though and people were always interested in it and complimenting me on the tones.

Cheers

I am hybrid but using a digital preamp and tube power amp into a stereo cab. Of all different types of rigs, I find this the perfect combo of tonal flexibility and fast setup combined with tube punch and clarity.

I gigged with a tube pre/SS power amp back in the 90s, now I'm running a Mark V with a G-System and a Nova Drive (analog dirt).
