So much talk about super high gain amps and all that , what I am asking for are for people to come forth and state which amp they own that can produce cleans to bring make grown men weep.

And then post a representative clip of something recorded with that type of amp, combo or head.....it dont matter.

Dont bother with gainy material, the cleans are all Im looking to hear.

'64 BF Fender Twin Reverb with JBL D-120s. 'nuff said. :BEER

Late Mike Bloomfield used two (!) of those in series and I get the feeling that he must have liked what he heard. :AOK

I've been through a few and really like the Tone King Meteor II with my band. Makes me smile, not weep.

Within my limited collection of amps and playing experience, I'd say a Divided by 13 ERT33 through a couple of blues or golds and a 1966 BF Fender Pro Reverb with Rolas are "it" for nice clean tones.

BRUNO COWTIPPERS. I am a clean freak, and have bought, sold, and tried everything I can find. Nothing beats the Cowtipper Pro IIs to my ear. Second best? 65-66 Fender Pro reverb. The Cowtippers are fatter, sweeter on the top, and have a better reverb. Lots of clips on my site, but watch the digital clipping on mine. Plenty more at the Bruno site. :BEER

Some people like scoopy mids with tinkly tops, others fat bottoms and protruding, bovine, mids,:messedup etc. Sometimes it is even necessary to ADJUST the amp to alter the tone!! There can be no universal consensus. Tag likes well...you know what, and as cool as those may be, they may not be used the same way for you (or me) and sound different (better/worse?) with other players.

Komet 60, the most amazing amp out there.

...go to about halfway through this short clip for the clean section.

Most will laugh but with a strat or a Tele I get fabulous cleans from my single channel JCM 800 using the low input. Not pristine, but a round and full bodied clean. I gotta figure out a way to do clips. People think i'm nuts sayin stuff like this.

No one has mentioned the Fender Super Reverb, so I will. Definitely one version of the King of Clean. :AOK
