I saw some old posts but nothing recent.
I just got a Sterling Amps 5e3 and I love it. Read more here:
Is the Cortez the model I would be looking at?
Shoot. I love my Ceriatone. Not that I've played a bunch of others. One vintage Fender, one small builder, and one Victoria. All were different, and I didn't really spend enough time with them to decide on "better," but I ended up with the Ceriatone, and I'm perfectly happy with that.
One caveat is I don't want a combo, and indeed, being able to buy the chassis w/out a cab was a huge advantage for me, and those things probably influenced my decision more than anything else.
Or the Crema Wheat...
Valvetrain 416 is a really nice handmade Deluxe-based amp.
Has anyone compared a Clark Beaufort to a Tungsten Cortez?
What's the real thing cost these days? I know prices have fallen quite a bit. Just get a real.
Never played a Tungsten.
I have the Victoria 20112 and the Clark Beaufort Premium.
Both are outstanding amps.
Picked up a very clean 57 for 2k.
Li'l Dawg D-Lux.
The tungsten Cortez is a great amp.
Don't forget Louis Electric
I have a Victoria and can't fault it. The big volume leap at about 4 a a bit of a drag for at home, but it's part of the deal. I gather some makers use a different /smoother taper arrangement but I don't know what trade off the brings with it.
Ive had a few and the fender reissue is my favorite
Love my Li'l Dawg and Jim is the nicest guy in the world to work with.
I've rocked the same ol' Ceriatone 5E3 for years...NOS tubes + a 12" Celestion Gold
