Last time I saw him, it was Eddie Perez. (That was a couple years ago though.)

I think his name is Eugene Edwards. I saw Dwight a few years ago and while Dwight mailed it in, the rest of the band was GREAT!

Eddie Perez left Dwight to go back with the Mavericks full time a few years back.

Same experience here. Dwight used to put on a killer show but he seems tired now. Crack band, though.

Eugene was an uber-fan playing in a regional bar band, hitting all Pete's old licks note-for-note, when he got the audition. When I saw them last year I noticed that he plays a lot of Pete's licks from the original recordings. He has said in interviews that he likes to do it that way, and can't imagine playing anything else on those early cuts.

I saw him in DC two years ago and had pretty much the same experience. I thought it was still a killer show too. Band was on fire! I think Eugene was playing guitar and he sounded pretty good on all of Pete's parts.
