Every time I log on fresh, Little Snitch alerts me to this attempted tracker connection.
And it wants a port connection, pretty much indicating that it will be a two way streaming connection.

I disallow this connection every time and the site still works fine.

Who the heck is jdorfman and why does he need to follow our online TGP activities?

As far as I can see it seems to be as part of what runs the forum platform

"BootstrapCDN is a free and public content delivery network. Users of BootstrapCDN can load CSS, JavaScript and images remotely, from its servers. Bootstrap uses MaxCDN's global content delivery network, which makes websites using its service resilient to unexpected surges in web traffic."

jdorfman is this guy: https://www.justindorfman.com whis seems to be working with MaxCDN

I log onto TGP everyday. Using a variety of script viewers and blockers I have not ever seen nor recognize what you are seeing. Have you scanned for Malware or viruses?

Little Snitch is a personal firewall for Mac.

I set it to alert me any time anything attempts a connection to my system, incoming or outgoing.

I have Ghostery too, but this catches a lot of stuff they miss or ignore.

Nothing can self-install on my system without administrative approval.

Cookies are cleared at least daily, except for a handful of known trusted ones.

To their credit, TGP is actually relatively tracker lien in itself.

    Double click
    FaceBook Connect
    Google Analytics
    Google + Platform
    Twitter Button

The Photos, VIDEOS, and offsite links can be swarming in trackers, especially news type publication, media stuff.
Photobucket is really get bogged down with trackers.

Still all of this is trying to connect to your system 24/7 and too much of it is in 2 way streaming connection following
everything you do, say, research, view online, when and where.

Google is still the most relentless.

Just one Google/Youtube related link can put 7 Google cookies on your system.

If you have unlimited internet/data bandwidth all this may not matter to you, but when you're paying
$10.00 per GB for all data to and from your system, it does matter.

    Thanks Scott,

Like I said, when I first log on, fresh startup, clean cache, cookies, then log on to TGP Home Page.
I get a normal expected alert for img.thegearpage..........
That's your page header, general layout, then either right after or right before, up pops this other tracker request for jdorfman' s server.
Once in a while blog.TGP pops up.
That's why I was asking if this other server is TGP related or if its tied to one of your partners, Webzine? Something.

I'm not getting the same alert on other sites like Gearslutz.

Dorfman is tracking you so he can figure out the best time and means to steal all your nice amps. Be afraid, very afraid. :hide

I thought maybe it might be related to the software developers who designed the forum software, but same clean start test, it doesn't pop up on TalkBass, who use pretty much the same software.

Doesn't pop up on Gearslutz or any of the very few sites I frequent.

Those of you on Mac who are running Little Snitch know how the software works.

App by app, site by site you can set it to ASK, DENY or ALLOW any attempted connection by default.

There's some sort of hot link on the home page that's triggering the alert.

Could it be related to the guys at ThemeHouse, the software developers????

I tried to replicate your results using Outpost (Windows), and could not. The only bootstrap hit I get is font-related.

If you look at the source code of the TGP front page, there's a link right at the top:

    HTML:
    <link href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.4.0/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet">
Could be related to your observation.

Looks like it's a hot link to the forum software developers.

Same thing pops up over @ Talkbass, who uses the same software..
