I just went through a bunch of tubes with a friend's Mesa, and we settled on the JJ GZ34. The Sovtek seemed too saggy and gave the amp a slightly mushier/muddier overall tone. --chiba
I've used the Chinese version for years, never had any problems, but switched to the sovteck because its way more solid, no rattles. Haven't had any comebacks.
weber copper cap. never had a problem with two amps running these for quite a while. no mechanical rattling sounds either.
I've got one, but haven't used it in my Hayseed, though. I've still got the JJ in there. If I use it, how will it affect my tone and/or power, if at all? The reason I ask is, I'm already running those Blues on the limit and don't want to blow 'em up. I'm worried a SS rectifier will increase the power output a bit.
they sag like tube recitifiers. same voltage drop, iirc. no more chance of blowing your blues than with a jj gz34.
