Who played guitar on Kirsty McColl's cover of "A New England"?

    I know Johnny Marr played on two of her later albums, but I thought this track predated his stint with her. It certainly has that compressed, chimey, layered quality that I associate with Marr.

    I think it was Billy Bragg himself played the guitar on Kirsty's version when he also wrote the two new verses for it which Kirsty condensed into one iirc.

    Check out the acoustic version of the song with Billy Bragg singing along with Kirsty. I like it better than her studio version.

    Wow! It's been so long since I saw the name Kirsty MacColl mentioned. I got into her late and was loving her last CD, the Cuban inspired Tropical Brainstorm, when a friend told me of her terrible death. Very sad. But the music lives on.
