Not-- do you need the extra $. Who wants to spend more time away from Family, Hobbies, Interests, Friends because you love your job so much. Doubt there are but a few. I am not in that category.
    You?

I like my job enough that I usually put in about 20 hours of OT a week. I admit it’s primarily motivated by the big fat paycheck.

Im 54 now. Cut it back to a straight 40.
    no weekends.

Back in The day when my bones didnt hurt 14 hour days plus weekends was the norm.

Didnt bother me at all back then

I had $600 brand new gib les Pauls to buy.

    It was called motivation.

We are on unlimited OT and have been for about 5 years. I used to do 8 hrs OT during the week and 8 on Saturday. These days I do 12 hr. Days m-f and hit every other Saturday. Generally around 48 hrs. OT per pay period.

I wish I could say I want to work less but it would be disingenuous.
Fact of the matter, we are a single income family by choice therefore I work a lot.
One day I will be able to cut back to 40 hours/week and I will “feel” retired.

I like the overtime, and she does to. I've always felt the need to stay busy. An idle mind gets me into trouble. Lately though, it's burning me out. I took today, and tomorrow off... so with Memorial Day its gonna be a 5 day vacation for me.

The lack of any time off was killing me. This is the longest I've been away from work in 2 years. My last vacation was 2 days off... we drove 4 hours, ate dinner, saw a band play, woke up hungover, ate breakfast, did a little shopping, and drove back home... and back to work the next day.

I wish I could work more.

I have some serious Daddy Daycare duties as a few years ago we decided my wife's career was more important than mine and I could subsist working from home, and part-time side jobs... These days I might re-evaluate the plan. A few more years and the daughter can be home alone after school for a few hours...

I own my business - so I don't really track the hours I work. I do spend my time doing exactly what I want to do.

I took a few years off, switched countries and stayed home with my son.

I started a half-time management position with a software company at the beginning of the year. Two days ago they really laid it on thick that they want me full time.

I surprised myself by saying yes and actually wanting to do it. So we agreed that in September when the kids go back to school we could begin negotiations.

I actually like my job. I did the 50-70 hour week thing for a long time and I hated it. This time I'll he doing 30-40 hours per week and still making more money than I ever did as a network engineer, even with all the overtime.

Added bonus - I work from home 85% of the time.

I had tomorrow set for PTO, was going to potsy around home and play some loud guitar - but was hesitant because I have been crushed at work and have a lot of catching up to do.

Turns out my wife is working from home tomorrow, so I won't be able to make the kind of noise I wanted to, and she forgot that I had taken the day.

So, I'm going to work tomorrow.

I work about 50-55 hours per week and don't get paid OT.
I am about to lose eight days of PTO when I hit the work anniversary next month. (Well, nine, I guess.)

I have no meetings (since I had the time blocked as away) and my email out-of-office message is on.
    I won't be logged in, so I won't be "visible" to co-workers.
    Essentially, I'm stealth-working.
I will be able to focus on some things that demand uninterrupted blocks of time longer than 30 minutes.

I don't want to work more.
But I find myself really looking forward to getting some crap cleared tomorrow.
I am pretty well-paid, and I like my job and the people I work with, btw.
    :dunno

I work from home and I travel. Both of those can be a blessing and a curse for many reasons.
I've done 100 hour weeks, I've done basically 1-2 hour weeks with those hours taking conference calls on the beach or in my hot tub.
I've traveled for 12-16 hours on planes 1 way to get to a customer site.
I flown to customer sites only to work from the hotel bar...
Overall, I'm good and I feel blessed to be in this position. I also think I'm worth it.
I'm salary and don't get OT. Sometimes I get comp days if I ask for them.
Oh, I've also worked a few 30+ hour marathons and I often work 6PM-3AM with little heads up... good times!
I took PTO tomorrow and they are still demanding I join a conference call tomorrow. Currently undecided :)
