By 'Robin Williams of guitar playing', you mean 'really annoying and overrated', just like the real Robin Williams, right?

Ok, Robin Williams when he was new and funny.

If I was famous and not paranoid about putting my own **** out there(don't have the money to sue for stealing), it'd be me (I'm ****ing nuts, and it shows big time with *some* of my playing. If it came through with all my playing, I'd have to do what it takes to keep my guitars from dialing 911, 'cause they'd have me put in the paddiest of padded cells (My wife says : "you shouldn't worry, nobody would be able to play it like that anyway")

But, that aside, Stever Vai would be up there for wacko cartoon playing that'll make you laugh in a musical way. Come on, some of that stuff on flexable is comedy (and technically brilliant). Good enough for me when I'm a listener.

I watch reruns of an old show called "Yes Dear".

In one episode, Brian Doyle Murray, who plays the movie exec boss,
said he had to leave the Playboy mansion.

When asked why he said "Robin Williams jumped in the grotto and stopped
    up the drain".

:agree I like RW. I nominate Steve Via as the closest because he's so "out there". I'll give an honorable mention to Brad Paisley's solos since they are way off the typical country stuff IMO (likely due to his John Jorgenson influence).

So who would be the guitar Jonathon Winters* be?

(* to the youngums; JW was an earlier, hilarious improvisational comedian who begat RW)

Haha. I was going to suggest ADD and compulsively stealing material from others.
