If I'm Fender I'm not taking manufacturing and products advice at scale from some artist who knows jack about it so get over it Mayor.

Guys, do some research before you start throwing out “Money” as being the motivating factor. That’s a lazy take, and wholly untrue. 5 minutes of combing through various articles/interviews will give you the details. Money is LAST on the list of reasons....

"Miers." Heard it straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

People say “money” like it’s a bad thing. I know what some of you guys are willing to do for money...

Mike Eldred left FCS. Mayer left shortly after.

I heard that he was driving the Fender executives nuts by always talking in his whisper voice.

Wow... so Eldred leaves Fender and suddenly the brass get persnickety about whenever Mayer asks for a new guitar “outside” the contract.

Ibanez seems to Steve Vai something new whenever he wants it. Don’t even try to think about how many guitars EBMM has made for John Petrucci. Your head will explode. Fender got that persnickety after Mike Eldred left? I’m not even a Mayer fan and that just seems weird practice.

Thats why I think it’s more the Eldred leaving/guitar rationing thing. I mean... the SS is essentially a Strat. Even had a 7.25” radius like a “wood panel station wagon.”

So whatever PR Mayer puts out is bang on the money? The reasons he gives in that video for jumping ship, when the specs and aesthetics of the PRS Silver Sky are taken into consideration, are clearly BS.

Finally, the great but neglected musician J.Mayor is getting some attention.

No, it was the same year. It all happened very quickly.

Fair enough. I thought Mayer left a few years later.

sort of a guitar first-world issue - the guys a multi-millionaire player - he can do what he wants if people will accommodate him, PRS did, Fender didn't - end of.

Paul Smith will bend over backwards to make an artist happy and that’s exactly what he did for Mayer. He began a lengthy process that involved many changes until he got the guitar how he wanted it. What artist wouldn’t be appreciative of that?

Why wouldn't it be the truth?

Do you have some sort of insider knowledge about the process that proves the above is BS?
