Why do I spend more time in Amp forum than anywhere else?

And not just by a little bit.

I play guitar and teach guitar professionally on the side of my main job as a teacher, and derive a substantial income from it. I love my guitars (down to 4) and they are exceptional, but I truly love my amps (Mesa fan boy).

I'm not really interested in guitar info, but amps fascinate me. Why?

Seems normal to me but I have about 20 amps and only half a dozen guitars.

I feel the same way, I don't even go into the guitar forum here. Think I posted over there once or twice when I first signed up here. Much more fascinating info and tales over here.

I spent about 5 years in the Pedals and Effects forums. Ive been coming here pretty much most of the time now! Love this forum! Time to learn something different.

I must have clicked amps and cabs 15 times today, that's not including the emporium.
I used to spend way more time on the pedals and effects forum. Now that I've bought and sold a ton of pedals I've learned that while they're fun, the sounds I enjoy the most come from plugging straight in to a great amp. I'm down to 5 pedals and much of the time they sit unused.

    Yes, I am the same.
I used to spend equal time at the Guitar page, but in the past year, I have been mainly focused on the Amps and Cab page.
For me it has been a huge shift, where at one time I wanted to collect just about every cool guitar, and then over the past several years, the trend reversed to amps and cabs.
I find the amp world appealing and there is so much there to discover and the tone quest, it is just fascinating. I am glad the amp and cab market has grown to what we have today.
I am glad the boutique builders keep pushing the envelope, and the vintage gear is around to benchmark to.

And I recognize a few friendly folks that I run into at the Amps and Cab page regularly:
    Teveinsene, SteveO, sfarnell, Frome,...
You guys really spice up the amp page :)

I'm in the same boat. For some reason, amps get me off more than guitars.

yep, this is the first place I go when I come to TGP. I just love trying different amps and reading what others think of them as well. It's great when you find that "magic" guitar/amp combo :dude

Amps affect your tone more than anything else aside from playing. It's a lot easier to make a cheap guitar sound good through a great amp than the other way around.

I feel amps appeal more to car guys than guitars. At least that's my thing. I can't afford the Jay Leno car collection that I'd like to have but I sure can have the amp equivelent.
