Why do people dislike pedals they don't understand?

If you give a couple good examples, I'll try to answer the question.

OK, say, for example, I was listening to a YouTube demo of a PLL pedal, I might see comments like:

"This sounds annoying." or "Sounds like ****."

The other thing that comes to mind is when people don't know what to do with a pedal and they just dismiss it based solely on hearing it.

What's a "PLL" pedal?

First part, nothing wrong with stating an opinion about how it sounds to you. Proceeding to call the pedal junk might be short-sighted or ignorant however.

Second part, there are those among us who want to plug a pedal in and have it sound good without much thought or effort. Not everyone wants to contemplate all the considerations and processes that may be required to achieve the sound they want to hear. So it goes. I don't judge such individuals too harshly, but I tend to ignore their opinions.

Pedals are pedals so why should it be
You would post about them so awfully
Pedals are pedals so why should it be
You would post about them so awfully

So they're different colors
And they're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate them
And you won't let it go
You've never even played one
So then how could you know

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate pedals made in Japan
Help me understand

That and they don’t take into account that the demo player may not play anything like they do.. then the variables of how the amp is mic’d ect.....
The only demos on pedals that I really listen to are from Sebastian Falvo, cause he plays a Les Paul very much like I do... (probably why I own so many Lovepedals.. but they sound in real life as good or better than his demos)
