Why does Gibson only offer the Robot guitar in Fugly Colors?

First it was that nasty Blue thing, now this. ACK!

I would actually consider buying one if it was a nice looking gold top or tobacco burst, Or a really nice flame top.

This new color is YUCK POOIE!

They will sell to collectors maybe. In my experience though, purple guitars without a flamed maple top are a hard sell. Not the best color decision IMO.

I hate the new colour! I must be bizzare as I really do like the blue burst :S I wish Epi (GASP) would release a LP in blueburst as I'm short of money and really like the colour.

What is the need in carbon fibre pickguards on these new models?!

I thought the blue robot looked MUCH better in person than online.

My guess... they believe traditionalists generally aren't going to go for this technology right now, so no tradtional finishes. They're going after the young, early adoptors that aren't tied to the old standards. Once it's established, I can see them offering it as an option across all the USA production.

am i right in thinking this is basically a studio (so crap wood or even ... & yes gibson have done this, even resin filled wood) with a self tuning gimik that 99% of us would never use? the tuners look pants & the tailpiece is bigger so mucks up the look of the face of the guitar imo. dont even think itl be a 5 minute wonder. itl last as long as "the darkness"... bak to the point! crap colours

A more interesting thing would be just give it a sheet metal finish kind of finish.

I would actually consider buying one if it didn't say Gibson on it. Sorry to the Gibson lovers, but they hate us lefties. The purple is great!

I guess they associate the color with the modern, "robotic" image of this particular guitar. Nr. 5's alive

I'll take the purple guitar. You take the robot tuners. I dig the purple.

I think this is meant for some of those who how don't know how to tune a guitar or too lazy, or have money to burn. I hear some of these robot tuners break down from some reports and don't know if you can manually override them. Yes the colors are bizarre.
