I have 1 person on ignore and it has made this forum much more enjoyable. Works for me.

I don't use the ignore list, but if it works for someone else, fine. I don't know why some people get their panties in a bunch about other people getting their panties in a bunch. It's a forum feature, for those who are happier using it. The scenarios in the OP of seeing posts second hand or otherwise coming across the ignored member can happen of course, but the ignore list isn't the same as a "disappear from my universe" magic button. That doesn't mean they don't work for someone, just that they don't work 100%.

I only put unhinged people on ignore. So, I don't buy from them. If an argument ensues in a thread, I just stop responding...

I do know that I am on a few ignore list. I don't like guns, so that kinda puts me at odds with the majority.

I'm finding this to be useful. I use it on threads that I keep seeing that I have no interest in reading and also have titles that are just annoying to me for whatever reason. Most threads I'm not interested in reading, just a numbers game, so the annoying (to me) thread title is the main thing. Though I will read in participate in some threads that have annoying thread titles, so it has to be a combination of the two.

In the end, that's a lot of panties in a bunch.

Remember the Three Steps to Ignore List:

    1) Use the ignore function immediately after being proved incorrect
    2) State you still believe you're correct
    3) Tell your interlocutor they are being placed on ignore

Failure to employ these three simple steps will result in a net decrease of lulz.

I use it mostly to remind me that this person is disagreeable ... in some way ... so use restraint if replying in that thread. It's interesting that many of the twits on my ignore list are nowhere to be seen in a year's time. Oh yes, and avoid The Pub.

I tried ignoring people the old fashioned way but got tired of typing "LA LA LA LA I CANT HEAR YOU!!!!!!" over and over again.

LOL. That's usually how it goes.

I think putting someone on ignore is for *******.

    Seems that way.

He should try taking up a hobby.

I'd recommend a musical instrument of some kind.

Ignore button-free since 2002. To be fair, I've uncorked the odd bottle of Rioja to make it through a few gnarly threads, but that's more for the sake of sanity and vitamins than it is to avoid having to thicken up my skin.

It's only the internet, for ****'s sake...

there are some people with insufferable attitudes that are extremely vocal around here, but thankfully there are many sub forums here and I'm interested in nearly every one of them, so if someone i don't particularly enjoy is taking, say, the pub hostage i'll just indulge my effects obsession for awhile. I don't have anybody on the ignore list.

If debate leads to a big chewy Rioja, is it so bad?

    ;)
