Why is my strat picking up radio?

I completely shielded my strat with copper tape and soldered the joints together. Now I am using Duncan Antiquities which are not potted, but I get a radio station when I turn the volume knob down yet it's not there when the volume is full up! What's going on???

The axe has an anodized pickguard FWIW and my cable is a Lyric HG.

    Thanks!

It's not the guitar, it's the amp. My Marshalls do it some time as well. Try creating a small "loop" in your guitar cable, near the amp's input.

I have a pedal that picks up radio freqs a lot. (Swart Atomic Boost) It's not normally a big deal to me cause it's too faint to hear while playing.

Thanks guys, I think it's the amp too. I don't hear it on the clean channel of my modified Mesa Heartbreaker. Oddly enough, the circuit is nearly identical to a JCM800.

Odds are, it's neither. It's bad cables: crappy shielding or poor grounds.

I've had amps do that before. The guitar I was using never seemed to matter.

I had an amp that picked up CB radio conversations between truckers. It was the spring reverb that was acting as the antenna. The higher I turned the reverb, the louder the chatter got. One day (30 years ago) I recorded about 10 minutes of it, while improvising on the guitar.

You should hear my 1972 Fuzz Face with BC108 transistors. I hear more than radio stations. Sometimes, late at night, it picks up communications between ships in the alien armada staging just outside our solar system.

    I too don't think it's a pick up problem.
One of my distortion pedal picks up radio station. It was really annoying.

So then I built a faraday cage and put the pedal inside and it's quiet now.

My Fuzzface occasionally picks up a Spanish radio station near my house when I have my guitar on zero.
