Why Jack White Should Play With Prince.

So there's been alot of JW hate recently (perhaps deservedly), and first off, let's keep this respectable.

Secondly, I'll sign myself up as one of those who was seriously disappointed by Blunderbuss. I love the White Stripes, but I'm starting to think JW is a man with immense artistic talent, who is resting on his laurels, and is kinda a one-trick pony. Lots of noise, check. Simple riffs, check. Blues scales and minor pentatonic, check. Digitech whammy, check.

So I was thinking, what would catapult JW to the next level? And then it came to me: Prince needs to take him under his purple wing, make him a backup guitarist, and show JW timing, flexibility, nuance, cool chords and progressions, and funk, baby, funk. Imagine JW stepping up for a solo in Crimson and Clover, then quietly stepping back and playing in the pocket. Imagine them trading lyrics. Imagine JW learning something other than 3 chord riffs. I think it would be awesome, and that a Purple, Red, and White Jack White would be the musician of our generation (if not a terribly clashing eyesore).

What do you think?

Jack White is partly responsible for the 2 Raconteurs albums...he is awesome for those albums alone if nothing else (and there is plenty else).

jack white is not worthy of prince

this. I'm not a hater, i like some of his stuff. but in my opinion, JW is very over-hyped (mainly because the today's climate has a lack of modern bluesy R&R). additionally, JW has about a 10th of the talent prince has.

Prince and Jack White would be something. I'd check it out. Putting both in the same room to create and play music might be a nightmare though. I am assuming Prince is a royal diva. Jack has his pissy moments but I think he would try to get along and make it work if only for the challenge.

IMO and on a sidenote, that RadioCityMusicHall gig was a major inexcusable but unusual move on Jack's part. I think there is a good chance he will try to make good on it as best he can.

Ahhhhh, no, you "JW is not..." folks, you're missing my point. Not who is better, but how much better would JW be if he learned, really learned from Prince? That's one of the lessons people are constantly telling me: want to be a better guitar player? Learn a different style.

I agree that a show with Prince and JW as JW would not go off well.

But what if, what if Prince really tutored young Jack, really said "add some funk and r&b to your punky blues," said "this, my friend, is a flanger, and this is how you use it," introduced him to a whole different sub-genealogy of music. What if hot mustard came with an awesome crunch, or peanut butter with a little spice (like Thai dressings?)? Awesome and new and invigorating, right?

I'm telling you, two years under Prince's purple cape, and JW would emerge a monster musician.

You like to eat hot mustard alone? Hehe

But yeah, I don't really like JW or anything that he's made but I can respect his musicianship and dedication to keeping some sort of (even if it may be false) "originality" in modern music.

That being said, Prince really has no need for Jack White, he can do everything JW can do and more... It would be kind of redundant and potentially embarrassing for White. I bet that JW feels the same way.

I think the stage clothes would clash, but I bet the music would be pretty damn good.
