Because nobody else plays quite like him… not then, not now

Even back in his Rod Stewart days, when he was doing - in theory - the same thing everybody else was… (ie: Les Paul thru a Marshall, in a Blues/Rock format). His tone, phrasing and approach was still completely unique and identifiable

Because . . . the first time I saw Beck was on the Blow by Blow tour in '75 on a double bill with The Mahavishnu Orchestra and my second was with The Jan Hammer Group in '76. I was into The Yardbirds in the 60's.
Seeing Beck and McLaughlin on the same night ... I dunno man, my head may have exploded. Must have been quite the spectacle!
