did you try isopropyl alcohol diluted with a little water on a cotton swab? I am not sure if it will effect the faceplate, but I have used it to clean lots of stuff. You could try it on the back in a small spot in case the worst happens but you should be alright.

acetone will do it. Had the exact same problem. Might not get it 100% gone, but 90-95%.

I remember reading somewhere that using a dry erase marker over top the permanent marker will lift the mark. Haven't tried it myself so take it FWIW....

Trace over the offending Sharpie writing with another Sharpie, wipe clean before it dries. This works. Old electricians trick.

Use a whiteboard marker & trace it over the permanent marker. Wipe it down after that. The writings will disappear. Works all the time.

Whatever you use, be careful not to get any on the numbers from the factory. I used a q-tip and alcohol and it took off the factory stuff as well.

    FTW!

Too bad that it *is* a new amp, (new to me anyway, 2203 eBay purchase) or I'd be right there with you.

I've got lighter fluid, rubbing alcohol, Sharpies and dry erase markers at home. One of them is bound to work.

    Thanks everyone.

So, let us know which one of these remedies actually worked. This question comes up from time to time.

I used to work in a paint lab where we used sharpies a lot. Rubbing (Isopropyl) Alcohol will work. Take care around the silk screened letters. :AOK:AOK:AOK

I swear, the Internet has spawned some bizarre discussions.
Pre- www, would you have sent a telegram around the world to ask this question ??
