Explained in a song,.. in a video.

I miss living there, but still drive back to be with friends and see great music.

Cheers!

Mallett Brothers Band, Anna & the Diggs, Eric Bettencourt, Gunther Brown, Monique Barrett, Zach Jones, Lyle Divinsky, and...

... yours truly ;)

But seriously: TONS of talent in Maine, fabulous songwriters, and people who are, first and foremost, the sweetest. I could tell you anecdotes until the cows come home of how gracious these people are, on top of being extremely talented.

I love being a part of that music scene/community.

Not only that, but a good mix of music with festivals in the warm months like the Old port fest. For decades now they've had roof deck and city center radio broadcast of great bands.

The metal scene over the last 15 years has gone through cycles and I like what I'm hearing lately from rock to metal from bands like Murcielago & Colepitz. An old friend of mine fronts Clubber Lang who I try to see when they play.

Spose is a great hip hop group as well.

Rustic Overtones had a resurection of sorts lately with a release in '10.

Sidecar radio, lady lamb.

I'm from Portland originally, love that place. Total art-centric town. A good family pal of mine is in the reggae group Eastwave Radio.

I agree, a college station there was the 1st and only place to ever play my unknown original metal band back in the grunge '90s! Portland ME rocks \m/.

I played the OPF this summer....awesome fun.

I love my hometown. I've lived other places, but always wanted to come back.

Im an upstate New Yorker who LOVES MAINE!!
It's the only place I fantasize about owning property.

We've been vacationing in Ocean Park (old orchard)
for the past 14 years.

But I consistently have trouble trying to find live bands.

The scene up the coast (Downeast) isn't half bad either. Great community support, and great support from our comrades in arms, our musician brothers and sisters. For those of you in the know, Bobbistock rocks, as does 430 Bayside, Chickenstock, and the numerous players make this the most vibrant scene I've ever been a part of.

Don't forget the Pete Kilpatrick Band! Anna and the Diggs are the real deal, too.

Also loved Rustic Overtones, 6gig, Jeremiah Freed, Even All Out...Maine has always had a great scene. I still follow it as much as I can from afar.

I live 10 mn away from Ocean Park. If you ever look for a band, I'll be happy to point you in the right direction ;)

I'm here by choice and have been for almost twenty years.

The jazz scene has gotten sketchier for gigging, but the talent and actual nice-ness of the players is a constant joy.

I used to live in Providence, RI and my band toured to Maine quite a bit. New Hampshire/Vermont were always great places too. Glad to see music is still alive and well there!

We've done some shows at Mr Goodbars in Old Orchard; I really like that club.

Every time I go up to Portland I think about moving there...

Ah yes, Mr. Goodbar... Haven't played there in ages! I played at the Oasis next door, at the Myst and Hooligan's on the pier... fun times. And if you play outside in the summer, watch out for the flyin' bird crap ;)
