when you can buy the MXR Super Comp for a few bucks more and get the extra Attack knob that the Dyna Comp doesn't have?

I'm not trolling, I'm just under the impression that the pedals are the same apart from that extra knob, and yet I hear loads and loads spoken about the Dyna Comp but the Super Comp is rarely mentioned.

    anyone know why this is?

oh yes, I'm talking about the modern block logo Dyna Comp, not the Script one or the original one. :)

cos the Dyna is a classic, and people (sometimes) like simplicity.

they don't sound the same. the super comp doesn't really do the highly squashed, almost slow gear thing that the dyna is known for in some styles, and the dyna can't really do the super transparent thing the super comp does.

I owned both at the same time and found that I could set them to sound identical. The Super will do extreme, sucking squash just like the Dyna, but it will also do transparent. You'd think this would make it a slam dunk to prefer the Super but I find myself wishing I had the Dyna back. I usually just set the Super to sound like a Dyna, and I have an Opto-stomp for subtler sounds, so the third knob doesn't gain me much. I'd rather just have the classic, simple Dyna.

I wouldn't. It's the worst, steaming pile, hunk of garbage pedal I've ever had the displeasure of playing or owning. :aok

This was my experience exactly, down to the steam.

    thanks for the replies.

in my case I think I would have gone for the Super Comp, but instead I think I'm going to get the T-Rex Comp Nova. I'm also keeping an eye out for the MXR Custom Comp (which I've heard a lot of great things about), but it looks like the T-Rex is the best buy I can get locally (without having to wait and pay shipping costs. :))

The stock block-logo Dynacomp is total crap, IMHO.
