Apparently, cooking non existent food for six minutes makes it cook itself to death. Oh Emerson, we hardly knew ye.

Mine got toasted with a Chic-Fil-A wrapper... I had it repaired, but we've had nothing but problems since.

Might just be overheated. My middle schooler set the "timer" on the microwave for 15 min while she was baking, except she actually turned the microwave on with nothing in it. Overheated and stopped working temporarily, but came back to life after cooling. Hopefully you'll be so lucky.

    Emerson !!!

Surprised it made it passed 2:40 (the popcorn setting).
...and didn't burn down the house.

Seriously: the AED Company I worked in the early 80's got bought up by Emerson and they nearly destroyed the concept by trying to put in the cheapest, most-thermally susceptible, widest-tolerance components available. Luckily they realized they had no business being in medical electronics before they made it totally unsellable. I bailed out just before they sold the concept to Laerdal and the whole thing got moved to Sweden (f***ing never forgive myself for leaving it 6 months too soon). My son woulda had dual US-Swedish citizenship... I couldn't imagine a better gift for a kid.

    ...my condolences for your microwave.
I hear BiMart has them on sale.

We had one tank on us. It blew a thermal component (thermocouple or something like that), had that replaced by a friend and it was good for a couple years and then died again. He told me popcorn is the worst for them but is the most popular thing cooked in one. Doomed to die I guess.

I have a 900 pound Amana Radar range from 1984. Two dials: Time, Temp.

So at work I won this snazzy Panasonic inverter technology M wave. I liked it, took it home, it lasted a 3 months and then blew up over nothing other than heating some food. Luckily I didn't ditch my old faithful Amana. I broke my back hauling it back upstairs and setting it up! I just took the Panasonic to the dump! :waiting
