Would it be stupid to trade a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb for a Peavey JSX?

Yeah....... I have a T-verb combo and love it, but it just doesn't fit my band's style. The JSX is a little more "Marshall" sounding and a Marshall tone would work well.

I found one locally and am thinking about trading......would this be a stupid trade? I had a XXX a few years ago and hated the cleans, are the JSX cleans better? Good enough for country? What about the speakers in a 2x12 JSX combo, are they any better than the regular Peavey speakers?

Thanks

Jason

I'd keep the Tremoverb. That's one of the best amps Mesa has ever made. The JSX is cool but I personally don't think it's in the same league.

Yeah, I've made some stupid moves in the past.... I don't want to make another stupid one, if indeed it is a stupid move. I'll probably just hold out for the amp I really want instead of moving to a Peavey. I'd love to have a Stiletto Ace!

If you're considering swapping, just sell the Mesa and buy the Peavey, pocketing the cash. Or, make a trade + cash. But don't trade straight up. Tremoverbs are worth way more than JSXs are.

If you're just asking whether or not it's a good idea to switch from a Mesa to a Peavey, then I would say that it's up to you. What amp you use is all about what works best for what you, as a musician, do. If the Peavey fits better with the type of music you make than the Mesa does, then use it, regardless of which people think is better.

I really like the Tremoverb alot....I thought the JSX was real buzzy when I played it.

If you're going for a Marshall tone, why not just trade the Mesa for a proper Marshall combo of some kind?

This is what I would do, sell your Tremoverb and buy the Peavey and pocket the extra cash if that is in the cards.

Buy a second hand Marshall dsl. I have the jsx combo and a dsl head (amongst others). The jsx is a great amp make no mistake and it's cleans are nice but the dsl has chimier cleans (and grittier if you want them) and of course great Marshall gain. The jsx does a good Marshall sound on crunch channel but it's more compressed. Jsx speakers are good and the ultra channel is good for drop tunings and leads. They're damn heavy tho those 2x12 combo's! I did a blind amp shootout on tgp a few years back and a lot of people choice the jsx as sounding best. Follow what your ears and wallet wants.

Trade the Trem-o-Verb for the new Mesa Electra Dyne Head or the Electra Dyne Combo. That is NOT a stupid trade, and would give you everything you desire.
