Anterograde amnesia= Lucy in 50 First dates. No access to long-term memory, no ability to form them. Short-term memory resets daily. Based on a real person.

Retrograde amnesia= Jason Bourne. No access to long-term memory from point of traumatic event backward. Able to develop both long and short-term memory going forward.

I voted Skippy. Seemed obvious. :dunno

Let's see, would I rather not remember the day I first saw my children's faces? Or would I rather never know that I have seen my future grandchildren's faces?

This is an impossible question. Can't and won't answer. It makes me think too much of my paternal grandmother and the Alzheimer's that took her from us before she was truly gone.

The memories seem to be more like the icing on cake rather than the entire slice itself. Check out all the Youtube videos quoting Allman Brothers and Jimi in their gear demos and note how many last more than 5 minutes but keep quoting the same 12 bars over and over and over again. They're tiny pieces of snapshots and rarely the entire picture/scene.

At this point in my life, the memories I'm likely to make in the future will pale greatly to those I made in the past.

Orthogonal choices and a question for Oliver Sacks.

    Definitely Jason Bourne.
