anybody else seen these info-mercials for a keith urban guitar. "when I unpacked it I thought it was a high end guitar over $1000.00!!" you'd expect (maybe on the planet pluto...wait that's not a planet anymore) to pay at least $600 for a guitar like this"
we can now add keith to the list...
    roy clark
    esteban
    gene autry.....

the only thing missing with mr. urban was a mini-skirt and some white go-go boots.

In his concerts, he does actually play one and give it away during the song.

Start about 13:10 to see his guitar tech describing it.

I really have to wonder why an established, successful, talented artist like K.U. sells out with such POS products. Even goes on HSN to personally talk about how great the stuff is. Must be truckloads and truckloads of cash involved.

A guy I work with bought the electric and brought it in. I didnt think it was a bad guitar, what are they $299ish? If it helps people pick up and enjoy the guitar that wouldnt otherwise, whats the problem?

Seems hokey that he's doing this, he can't need the money, and you know that he knows nobody is learning guitar in 30 days - but, whatever....I saw it for the first time yesterday morning at like 5am.

    This.

No need for all the cork sniffing hate. The target audience isn't people that come to this site, it's parents, grandparents, people that had an interest and want to try it out without the embarrassment of going to a local store and knowing nothing. As far as 30 days goes, if you put in the time, you can learn the stuff in his book in 30 days.

This seems like a reasonable assessment to me.

The infomercial is corny as hell, but the marketing and advertising is proper for the demographic it's aimed towards.

Still that guitar probably sounds like a pre war Martin compared to the Adam Levine acoustic.

my best friend of 40 years bought the acoustic before Christmas and has been religiously playing daily and following the lesson plan. He seems to be really enjoying it, so if it got him learning something new, that gives him satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, I'm completely on board with that. Low investment too!

Agreed. I bet that guitar is a helluva better axe than what I started with.
