I have been a gear hound for about 10 years now. It took up more and more of my time and energy until I finally focused my energy into attaining some gear goals. As of this week every, and I do mean EVERY, goal I set for myself, I have attained. I have all the guitars, pedals, and amps I've ever wanted. I have learned a lot along the way and grown as a musician. I am enjoying my musical hobbies more now than ever before. I guess it's just play the guitars and work on being happy till they cover me with dirt or my hands give up. I don't think my experience is the norm for tgp. This forum is for buying, not being at peace with yourself. Any tips for the road ahead because I am done buying gear?

Enjoy having more money to spend on other things that make you and your loved ones happy. :dude

Also, don't stress if you find yourself lusting after a new piece of gear from time to time...

We all go through this, and these plateaus are good for sharing your experiences with others.

I have had a few such plateaus over the past 12 years, and during those times I either switch to posting my own observations or focusing on the technique / playing threads.

There is room for all in TGP.

Sell it all and start over?

Kidding of course. Stop paying attention to us knuckleheads here. Most of us are completely neurotic over gear and tone chasing. Sounds like you’re a lot healthier. So keep it that way.

Even when you’ve reached the gear “endgame” from a functional standpoint, I don’t think you have to stop caring about gear.

Collecting guitar equipment can be an enjoyable hobby in it’s own right, just like collecting anything. It doesn’t have to conflict with growing as a musician or player unless you let it. I can still improve and be creative while geeking out over what Strat I’m going to buy next...even if I already have one.

    I was done too....

But then I saw Strandberg guitars...then I got one...now I just ordered a Kiesel Vader. Yep I miss being done because I really want a Zeus next. Before my headless craze I really was content with what I had.

I'm pretty much done, too. Took a while to get here, but here I am.

I still like looking at gear, though. Kinda like you don't stop checking out pretty girls after you get married...

I’m in a similar place. I have went through enough gear over the years to know what I like and what I need to sound like me.

I’m certainly not done buying gear, but now i am simply buying stuff “for fun” not necessarily to get me to a specific place, because I am already there.

I see the forum as a place to learn. I love to learn from others, and when the opportunity presents itself, I share the things I know.

Personally, I think I've avoided purchases more often than I've made them based on what I've learned here.
