Xotic warns against using the voltage doubler with non Xotic pedals, saying "Do NOT try this on any other pedals by any other manufacturers without first determining whether they have components with high enough tolerances". However, if I were to use this with a pedal that needs 18v, like the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone or the MXR flanger, would it be safe and work?

I suspect it's just a CYA move to ward off angry customers who fry their pedals. Only way to know is to try it...

I know the OCD can do 18 too, so that would be good to test on

18 volts is 18v no matter what adapter you use. They are just saying make sure your pedal can handle 18v because they would have no idea what other guys pedals can handle.

In that case, this can be an invaluable tool for those with Pedal Powers and the such. Thanks for clearing that up @SirGilmour

Voodoo labs make a voltage doubler too. Its a great little cable.

The Voodoo Labs doubler takes two outputs though, while this takes 1

Reviving an old thread. Any reason I couldn't use this to drive my Friedman BE-OD at 18v with my One Spot? Other than the fact it costs twice what the Dunlop 18v ac adapter costs?

Exactly right. I use them to power non-Xotic pedals at 18v with ZERO problems.

I have been using the Xotic doubler with my Rothwell compressor and it works great. I've used it with the Arctic Fuzz (Bearfoot) and the Carbon Copy with absolutely no problems.
