I wrote Yamaha customer service a few months back and the guy told me that most of the higher end Pacificas will not be offered to the US market.

WOW...you'd think that there'd be an assured market for them in the USA.

Did the customer service folks give a reason that they won't sell these here?

I asked and he just said that Yamaha was concentrating on it's marketing of acoustic guitars,keyboards and sound reinforcement gear to the US.

Sounds like a pretty shakey marketing plan, IMO.
I think there's a market for Pacificas at all price points here in the US.
To have to order these from overseas seems absurd to me.

Yeah,I hear you.When I stated how such well designed and built guitars would surely find a market in the US,he simply said,"Yes,they are really killer guitars".Maybe he was just as frustrated as I.

Your best bet for getting one of these in the USA is to order from Canada. I know because I've been looking at ordering a Yamaha Pacifica 510V, and Yamaha has told me the same thing. If you really want one, Canada is your best bet.

It really is a shame that they're not releasing these in the USA. I agree there's a market for them here.

They are very hard to find in Canada. I play a 1511MS Mike Stern and had to special order it ...

I had an old Pac-311MS. What an amazing Tele-style it was.
Yamaha makes some very nice stuff now, always did.
Search Ebay and see some of the old shredders for not a lot of $$.

At NAMM Yamaha wasn't showing any upper end Pacificas or SGs. Guitars were an afterthought ...
